Cindy -

This is gorgeous! Congratulations! Great hands as well.

Linda Brandon 12-19-2004 11:37 PM

Cindy, this is very beautifully painted and sensitively composed. I love those pearls with the little clavicle speedbump.

Must...paint...another...one...like...this. Must...increase...prices.

Janel Maples 12-19-2004 11:52 PM

Thanks, y'all, for the terrific comments.

Linda, I'm getting there - I just raised my prices before this commission. ;)

Jimmie - here's some details.

The upper arm suggested underneath the sheer white cloth brought to mind Sargent's treatment of Lady Agnew's upper arms. And the face is simply perfect.
Another one I will keep coming back to view.

Breathtaking!

Terri Ficenec 12-20-2004 10:43 PM

Cindy, this is just gorgeous! Thanks for posting the close-ups.

Cindy,

The Boston School lives! A beautiful portrait.

Are you a member or have you considered membership in the Copley Society in Boston on Newbury St?

Thanks, Carlos, Michele, Terri, and Sharon.

Sharon, I have looked into it. They require something like 12 - 15 slides and one original, so as soon as I have enough pieces, I will submit my portfolio. They only review them certain times of the year, so I have to time it just right.

Funny, though, I passed by the place just the other day - I almost missed it, it's so small and unassuming! (I didn't go in - I was shopping with hubby)

I've been meaning to ask you, though, if you ever open your studio - if so - can I come down and pester you? Can I, huh? Can I? Huh? Huh?

Sharon Knettell 12-21-2004 10:05 AM

I don't do open studios, but you certainly can come down and visit and look!
The only other Forumite who has seen it is Linda Nelson.

I am a cloutless member, but they did get me a very big commission a few years ago.

Josef Sy 12-21-2004 10:09 AM

Cindy, This is just beautiful.

Elizabeth Schott 12-21-2004 06:38 PM

Incredibly beautiful Cindy!

Wow someone is going to have a great Christmas gift, if this is what that is for.

Oops, I forgot to ask... did you just glue some pearls on the canvas? ;)

Cindy Procious 12-22-2004 07:00 PM

Yippee yahoo, Sharon! What are you doing tomorrow?

Just kidding. But, I would love to see your studio, and seeing as how you're a mere hour away, it seems doable. Perhaps some time after New Years'...

Thank you, Joseph and Beth, for the kind words.

Sharon Knettell 12-22-2004 08:59 PM

What!

Cindy,

You are going to make shovel out my studio aren't you!

Give me a call after the holidays. I am still in model search mode so I don't think the paints will be out.

Chris Saper 12-23-2004 06:18 PM

Dear Cindy,

Thanks so mouch for posting this wonderful portrait - of all of your paintings I've seen, I Iove this the most. I think everything about it works, best of all is the lucsious surface!

Congratulations!

Cindy Procious 12-24-2004 09:42 AM

Thanks so much, Chris.

Wednesday was delivery day - the client and I met at the framers - she was very pleased.

I was wondering - do you all go through withdrawals? I had this girl's face in my studio for over 2 months - so I feel slightly bereft without her. Although, there's a part of me that's so glad she's gone from my easel...

Oh, and Sharon - you don't have to shovel out anything! I'd rather see your studio in its working condition, not its ready-for-company condition.

Sharon Knettell 12-24-2004 11:11 AM

Cindy,

You may not be able to get in the door!

Congratulations on the deserved enthusiastic reponse.

I HATE to part with them, and I try to visit them as often as possible.
