Love it!

I was just at the "Kings, Queens, Naked Statues" exhibit at our local art museum, in fact.

Funny stuff on that site -- good for a few post-Thanksgiving-dinner laughs -- thanks!

A thoughtful art-historical treatise on the important panty-drop paintings of Art Frahm in the 1950's. Well worth the read!

William-

OK, my "celery innocence" is lost........

Seriously, that was funny!!! One of the funniest treatises on pinup art I've ever read. Thanks so much for the link. Mr. Frahm has a unique niche in Art History, that's for sure.

Pickles, by Brian Crane. My husband made sure to save these for me! :)

Lileks was (and I presume he still is) a staple of the Twin Cities (that's in Minnesota, don't ya know) press, moving about from one publication to another, doing columns and books, vying for fame, making life -- or at least subscribing to the newspaper -- worthwhile. After being away from the 10,000 lakes for so long, I'm glad to hear that he's still there and in fine fettle. And, no doubt, good looking and above average.

Here's a new one I just ran across.

Michele Rushworth 03-18-2005 10:48 AM

Good one! Maybe they'll run some of these topics at the PSA event.

Does Hockney know about this?

Actually, a lot more contemporary paintings are done this way than will be confessed.

That being said, it's probably been some 40 years since I was confined to quarters with the chicken pox, before Playstation and X-Box, even before Atari and Pong, without TV, my entertainment being books and some paint-by-number images. Horses, as I recall. Turned out pretty well, I think. Admit it -- you've done a couple yourself.

They're probably out of the black market by now and in the Louvre, under an assumed name.

This was published in a local paper years ago when a very small but vocal group of zealots tried to shut down the life drawing sessions held after hours at the local art museum.
