Would you mind telling us about your training in Russia? How are classes organized in art school? I love the "painterly realism" that is often associated with Russian artists and I love the Repin/Serov style of brushwork, how is this taught?

Thanks for warm reviews. It is very pleasantly for me to receive that.
Dear, Linda, I want to answer you with one Russian joke.
Company arrived in a circus. In them program one exciting turn -

Victoria,

So are you saying a total of 14 years of art training?

Lisa Gloria 07-09-2007 11:15 PM

Victoria, I would have to lapse into German to apologize to you, but that is the extent of my Russian, unless you would like to meet sometime to count things. :sunnysmil Anyhow, in my most sincere way I wanted to compliment your work. It is very lovely and inspiring to view. I hope to see quite a bit more!

Thank you for the compliment. Now I want to show one of my institute's works. At first year of study, students have to paint and draw only human head. / Ledy in red. 2001, 50 x 60 cm /

Victoria,
It is really nice to get to see some of your outstanding works.
As much as my kids are constantly warned, over here, of all the extremely talented maths students from India and Pakistan whose competition they might have to face at college and in the global job market, so in art we are often told about how serious the art education is in Russia, and we get news of almost mythical skills, which you represent very well. (and what about copists in China, appearantly they would chew us up in a second)
It is great to have some contact with a practicing artist that has had such a disciplined training, welcome and please keep posting
Ilaria

Victoria,

Welcome to the Forum! I like this one very much. There is a sureness and confidence in the execution, combined with a strong sense of your vision. Combined with the confidence is sensitivity in the way you see and describe your subject. After looking at your website, I can say I feel the same about all your work. Like Allan, I'm always excited to see when someone paints landscapes as well as figurative work.

Victoria, a pleasant welcome to you. I have visited your web page and was quite impressed with your work. I have thought many times to come to Russia in order to see and study the beautiful paintings of the art masters of Russia like Gay, Shishkin, Nikolaevic Kraunskoi, Repin just to name a few. There is a artist that lives close to where I live. She is from Russia but I am not to impressed with her art. Do you know of any Russian artists that live in the Frankfurt area?

Your representation of the lady in red is quite amazing for a first year student!

With eight years' study of Russia, right now I can only say: Ya plorha govoriu pa Ruski... liubliu tvoyu kartinu!
