But seriously,
I would get that tripod and a gray card and try getting your photo image yourself before you get someone else envolved. |
Kim, I just love this painting. . . so playful and creative. It turned out beautifully! I especially like how you handled the the see-no-evil girl against the sky.
(By the way, glad to hear you're all settled in your new home and studio --that's terrific!!) |
Mike,
I'll tell you - I had an issue with a photographer once because I hadn't gotten him to sign a paper concerning the copyright. This time it's the first thing I asked. The guy I want to use is good - he photographed a few paintings for me over 6 years ago when I lived here in Corpus before. I know your right - I should learn to do this myself. Right now I am just frustrated because I dont think I've ever gotten a great photo of my paintings. Plus - his digital files are 48 megs. I have to go look - but Im sure mine arent that big. I have been disatisfied with my slides, my photos, etc. I can do OK with reference shots now, but the paintings are another story. I will learn - I have to. Just not right now. I havent been able to paint in weeks and weeks and that's all I want to do. Terri, thank you! |
Kim, I love how you interpreted the theme. Very original and beautiful.

Very original and well executed. It will sell fast, I bet!
Get some top quality photos of it before it sells, though. (Very high res digitals or even better, 4x5 transparencies.) -- I bet you could make a profitable limited edition series of prints with this one! |
Wow!!!
This is so elegant! Beautifully executed and very original! I'm glad you finally decided to finish it. Wonderful painting! |
Thanks ladies!
Now that you mention 'giving birth' - I think this thing was on the easel about 9 months (or more). I've never taken that long before. Michele, from your mouth to art buyers ears. ;) Im hoping to get into a very very well-established gallery with this one. I've been in competitions at this gallery, but Im hoping for full-time representation. My painting sold this year during their Salon show...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Well actually, Im saying to myself "they'd have to be crazy not to take me." (nothing like pumping yourself up). I sent them slides and all info they wanted, but if I get a face-to-face meeting I think I'll bring this one since I didnt have it done to send a slide. If I dont hear from them, I'll take the painting to them to frame and maybe catch someone's eye. If they take me on, I really want to discuss prices with them. Mine are still way too low and I think being represented by a bigger gallery maybe can give me the crediability to get into a better range. |

Hi Kim!
I just noticed that you have this completed. It was worth the wait! I love the subject and your own wit and sense of humor shines right through. :sunnysmil Jean ps, I think you may have handled your move better than I have, I just can't seem to get going again. I still have unpacking to do, and get easily distracted when I try to paint. I wish I had your energy, maybe I have to go back to high test coffee again! |
