I really like the fact that you have done a sensitive, yet unsentimental picture of this young man. So refreshing!

Allan,

I agree with Sharon and all your above deserved accolades for this wonderful poetry on a theme of red. Your color sense is developed into a language of emotion and innocent play and spontaneity which perfectly represents your grandson's personality and vitality.

And you did this masterpiece in one day!! I am really scared (and jealous) of you. Bravo!

Linda is right too. Please see how far this painting will advance you in competitions. You may be surprised. Go for it!

I love it, Allan! This is a fun painting, and he looks like a handful. There is a lot of energy here, perfect for a young man.

Allan, I wish I had more eloquent ways of saying, "totally gorgeous" but I am too busy picking up my jaw. I love everything about this painting from the color to the background texture to the facial expression. I would agree with the suggestion to enter contests with it.

Allan, this is fantastic work, really.
As Linda said it is very emotional and there is a real engagement and relationship between painter and sitter.
Also such a good management of reds
Many compliments
Ilaria

Garth,
you are right, the theme was the reds. I did the wall in earth colors and the blouse in cadmiums and kept them close in value but different in structure and stole the pose from your avatar :santa:

Thanks, Allan.
