Lovely painting, Beth. I'll bet he loves this!

Note: new images were reloaded for the originals at the start of this thread.
While at church this evening I tried to shoot some new images of this painting with my better camera. The lighting wasn't the best and it seemed to get some glare. But I still think they may be a bit more true. It looks like I'll just need to borrow it back. |

This is just a quick "snap" shot of the Padre with the painting.

It's fascinating to see the subject with the portrait, Beth. You've certainly caught his likeness, and I like your painterly style. There's an impressive difference between your current works and those you posted earlier, too.

I think that one of your strengths is the quality of the likenesses you capture. It's also nice to see what the painting looks like now that you have your new camera..
BTW I really like the frame. Where did you get it? |
Thank you Leslie and Marvin.
Marvin the frame is from the place Karin Wells likes: www.jfmenterprises.net It is lovely and you would never think it was only $69.00 because it's well crafted and wood. It is not gold leaf though. They are a wholesaler, so you will not see prices until you send them your tax ID and they give you a password. Did you notice the plaque? You can barely see it. Does anyone use plaques consistently on the frames? This one talks about the Priest and the parish - it does not mention my name. |
The frame place looks like a good resource, Beth. I've bookmarked it.
I've used plaques in a couple of instances, but in both cases the client was presenting the painting to the subject as part of a ceremony and they handled the framing and the plaque. I always sign my portraits on the front so there was no need to use my name on the plaque; it simply memorialized the occasion of the gift, not the artist. |
Beth,
It's a pleasure to see this now that the photo of the painting is taken with a good camera. That's a very nice job of likeness, he must be extremely pleased. :) |
