I'm going to give a local high-end prepress shop a try for one giclee on canvas (to use for shows -- the original is with the family who commissioned it, in Hong Kong). I'll see what happens. Their prices seemed to be similar to everyone else's and they have a great reputation around town for other color work they do.

However, I'm not encouraged so far. The proof I went in to look at the other day had no good darks and everything was too green. Granted, this was just their first pass with their Iris printer and they haven't attempted to emulate the color on the match print I gave them yet. I thought I'd see how close things were just by having them process the file straight from their printer first, so I could try and avoid color correction fees. No dice.

Once they go through the color correction in Photoshop they should be able to do a decent job coming close to the color on my match print. I'll know in a few days when I go downtown to check out their next proof! (The nice thing is I get to keep the 11x17 canvas proofs. Not sure what I'll do with them, but they are freebies.)

Steven, my friend uses www.VanGoghAgain.com for his giclees and he's very pleased with them. They're in Drexel Hill, Pa., just outside of Philadelphia and he brings them the original for scanning on their huge, state-of-the-art flatbed scanner. I note from their website that they can work from other sources if the original isn't available.

HTH! (which means "Hope this helps!" by the way)
