National Gallery of Australia - The Edwardians

I just discovered the site for the National Museum of Australia.

http://www.nga.gov.au

I haven't explored the whole thing but there is a section call The Edwardians. Here's what seems to be the beginning of that section. The thing that really intrigued me is that the last time I did an SOG redesign, that exact Sargent was something I played with and the same layout:

There are some Sargent's in there and here's an exiciting portrait by Giovanni Boldini.

Cynthia,

I haven't explored the whole site yet either, but at first glance it seems very cool. The audio bytes are really nice.

Speaking of Boldini, it is hard to find stuff on him. Not too long ago I received an enormous 4 volume set of books on Boldini from the library, I think it was probably Giovanni Boldini, 1842-1931 : catalogo ragionato by Piero Dini, Francesca Dini. One of the volumes, vol. 3 or 4, had many excellent full color plates, most of the plates in the other volumes were grayscale. It was an in-depth, very comprehensive set on his life and works, but, all the text was in his native Italian.

Thanks for the link.

Holly

Here's a good link for Boldini: http://community.webshots.com/user/giovanniboldini

There's three galleries. Once you click an enlargement, look below it for another link that says "View Full Size." Most of them have a supersize version as well as the regular enlargement.
