That little girl in the Austin-Healey
This is a different kind of commissioned portrait for a little five year old girl with an old soul, fresh off my easel. . . a vignette, and a classic car for a setting! I'd like to know what everyone thinks of this. The painting measures 30 x 46 inches, or 76.2 x 116.7 cm, and is oil on linen, with a sort of khaki ground color.

Amazing, Garth! You have created another masterpiece. It's such an original idea, and I like how it combines the client's interest in old cars with your own. It must have been fun to paint. As I said on FB, the vignette makes me think of the canvas as a windshield that the artist has wiped off to reveal the scene.

Thank you so much Alex, Marvin, and Pat! It's great to hear from you. Alex, I like your analogy of wiping an oval opening into a fogged windshield. I have since varnished the painting, which fixes some sunken-in areas in these photos. Maybe I should put up the better photos I have now.
