Museum recommendations?
I live in Iowa and would like to visit some museums when the weather warms up a bit more. Any recommendations? I'm thinking Chicago, St Louis...the midwest area. I'd really like to see a Bouguereau up close if there are any within a reasonable driving distance. I'm thinking weekend trips.

Minneapolis Institute of Art: http://www.artsmia.org/
Bouguereau's "Temptation" is there: I have the framed poster in my studio! http://www.artsmia.org/viewer/detail.php?v=12&id=2135
I lived in Davenport, and Minneapolis was a full day drive. I wish I could come back and go with you! Devote one day to the Mall of America and I can guarantee you will go home happy, tired, and broke!
Right now the Figge in Davenport has the Pollock and other pieces from University of Iowa's flooded museum.

Museums
Susan,
The Chicago Art Institute has a good museum, with two paintings by Bouguereau, though they're both late works done when he was very old and past his prime. They're still very good, though, and there are quite a few other paintings there that are worth going to see, including Jules Breton's "Song of the Lark," and Judith Leyster's "Rommelpot Player," among many others.
Kansas City has a good collection in the Nelson-Atkins Museum. The St. Louis Art Museum is worth visiting as well, but go to Chicago first, because there is more to see there.

Thank you all for the recommendations! Chicago is definitely on my list. Now I just need to find the time that some friends and family would go with me that don't mind how long I stay at the museum. I'm just not all that excited about driving in Chicago by myself!
I have been to Mall of America once, but it was years ago. I don't believe we went to the museums in the area, but I don't recall for sure since it was half a lifetime ago.
