Hi Richard,

You missed it within a hair's breadth, native Hungarian (a tiny land near Russia) but living in Germany. So I don't understand it. (Kok=How?)

Scott wrote, he stopped using Burnt Sienna for underpainting. I use Raw Umber, an once tried verdaccio.

You can still buy Sheppard's book, it is interesting (and you need no basics, what I need)

Oh yes,it is a problem, all underpainting by me is too dark...

Yes, it's "How"

Yes, kok (not spelled correctly) is how in Russian. They made a translator out of me way back in the 50's when everyone feared the Russians were coming. They needed people to sit on cold rocks in wet basements listening to what they were saying on the other side of the barbed wire. I've forgotten all but a few words, but that was 50 years ago. The Russians never came here, but they sure showed up in tanks around your part of the world. I remember the freedom fighters.
