Hi Chuck.
Nice drawing. As Steven mentioned you have done a good job on placement of the facial features and I would also like to add that the model pose is very appealing also.
One area that stands out to me as needing some adjustment is the necklace. The dark outline of the necklace against that very light area is distracting from the focal point, that being the facial features. Maybe you could draw the necklace so that it appears "sketchy" or loose it all together.
Nice work!

Steve, Mike,
Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I have reworked the drawing, as seen here:

Hi Chuck,
What a difference such slight changes make, taking out the background and adding the highlights, shading the eye on shadow side a bit more. This is a good lesson for me to see unfold.
I am so impressed that you could finish such a detailed drawing in a life class. How long was her pose? Did you "finish" the rendering once you were out of class? This is a very nice drawing.

Hi Pat,
I did not make the drawing in a class, and not all at one time. She is a friend, and the drawing developed over the course of a few visits. She didn't do formal posing; I just worked from observations during the conversations, and worked on it in between times. Actually, I have drawn and painted her before, and I think I could make a creditable portrait from memory.
