Cynthia,
I don't know where this topic would go so I leave it up to you.
There is a very fine portrait artist named Peter Egeli. Type in the key words "Portrait honors former CSAF" and an official unveiling of his work is shown. Has anyone else seen his work or known of him?

As you can see, I've moved your post into the Cafe. The page to which you refer is here (before sure to click the high res image: http://www.af.mil/news/Dec2001/n20011221_1838.shtml
Yes, I'm familiar with the work of Peter Egeli. He comes from a family of painters. His father Bjorn Peter Egeli was very well known and painted many official portraits for the government, many of which can be seen online. Brother Cedric Egeli and his wife are painters on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and give workshops, I believe once a year in Cape Cod. BJ Egeli, another brother is also a painter, though last I spoke with him, he was moving away from portraiture. There is a daughter Carolyn Egeli who paints.

Mary Ekroos seems to be a daughter of Bjorn also:

Anyone reading, please correct me if I have any of this wrong.

This is the portrait of retired Gen. Michael E. Ryan since it will likely go away in the future.

Peter's a terrific artist, but also a very generous one.
When I was first considering portrait work, I knew virtually nothing about it. Peter had painted the Chairman of a company I worked for here in NC. When I was researching the field, I called him, and in a long phone conversation, he directed me to references (Sanden, Kinstler), oriented me to what each size generally included, and other basics, all in the interest of helping me get my feet wet.
I've corresponded since once or twice, and he never fails to issue an invitation to his Maryland studio. One of these days I'll take him up on it.
If a good career is grounded in a good start, I'm forever indebted to him.
