A lovely tale

This is probably the first thread I have ever started in the Cafe

Here's the first: if you haven't already seen this, watch the judges in the beginning. http://www.maniacworld.com/Phone-Sal...zes-Crowd.html

Here's the follow up http://www.maniacworld.com/Phone-Sal...wd-Part-2.html, courtesy Steven Sweeney.

Sincerely,

Your Off-Key and Tone-deaf Moderator, Moi

I guess "Don't judge a book by it's cover!" fits here. I guess it also goes to show that if you have a dream, hang on it tight, you'll never know when you will finally get the break you were wishing for....

Thanks Chris for the motivation!

I've watched the first video 4 times and have cried each time. Here's his bio:

Oh, my God!

First, that song has always sent me through the roof. The whole video brings up that tightness in the throat that preceeds tears. What an inspirational bit.

Wow.

Unbelieveable talent. And this priceless gift has - fortunately for us - been given to someone apparently without guile or misplaced ego.... That this extraordinary talent has remained undiscovered for this long is truly amazing.

I looked up Paul Potts on Wikkipedia. Apparently he now has a number one album in Britain, too. Quite a talent!

Persistence and opportunity

After I discarded my used tissues, I couldn't help but think that great, unrecognized talent is all around us. Also, that success is a result of incredible persistence and having just the right opportunity open the door for us.

I wonder how many great Rembrandts are toiling away in the quiet solitude in their lonely studios and who will never be recognized, because the persistence wasn't there and the opportunity never occurs.

Can persistence allow for opportunities to occur? It seems to make sense to me.
