Lynda

This 24" x 18" portrait of Lynda was completed on grey (smooth side) Canson Mi-teintes paper. Please offer advice regarding the teeth and the background. Feel free to manipulate to demonstrate your point.

Thanks!

thumbs up

Julianne, she is lovely. I think you have handled the pastels really well!

I just took the liberty to point out two things I saw by illustrating them in Photoshop.

I am not sure I have nailed the eye thing, maybe some of the SOG pro's can help with that, or I could just be seeing things.

Thank you!

I should have posted this before I showed the client. They loved it and have already taken delivery. I need to stop feeling rushed and take the time to set the painting aside, then look at it again, objectively, a week or so later.

Thanks again for the time you took on the manipulations. I will definitely apply them to the next painting.

This is a lively piece, and a good critique by Elizabeth. I would add this: I shy away from use of yellow ocher anymore in skin tones, because it can draw the eye. Here, you have used it in certain places perhaps experimentally, but it does not add to the piece, but seems to draw the eye without reason. Yellow ocher is a very vibrant color. I like it to tone down alizarin crimson, or to blend with darker colors. But in flesh tones, it will jump out at you. It shows up more in digital shots.

Nice job!
