Up A Tree
This is a miniature painting I completed after studying the subject of miniatures. I posted a research type thread in the Cafe, but since this is an animal painting I decided to post it here. The painting is 3" x 2" and is acrylic on canvas. The canvas really shows through on the scan. I hope it is clear enough to show the very small brush strokes. Let me know what you think.

Miniature
Rebecca, you have much more patience and fine motor skills than I do. Have you thought of becoming a surgeon?? I know nothing about miniatures, but this looks good to me. I'm trying to envision it at its real size!

It's beautiful Rebecca. You can see the tiny brush strokes. Looks like you may have found your calling! I hope you continue to do these miniatures! Looking foward to seeing a portrait like this!

I do declare child, I don't know where you find the time! You are certainly a lot more industrious than I am. It is darling, I love it. How long did it take? Did you do this during your break at the colored pencil class? I can see you with a snack in one hand and a brush in the other. I would go blind.

Well, I had to do something while Hurricane Lili was blowing around! I am sure, Alicia, that you were painting away! Wednesday night my husband went to Books a Million and bought magazines to read (saw a friend's son) and I painted. With no electricity, you have to do something!
My first colored pencil workshop went great. Six people showed up and paid me to teach them what I know. Amazing. Considering I don't have to pay to use the facilities, it was quite a profitable two hours! The second one was to be Thursday afternoon. It was pushed back to next week because of the storm. I have six signed up for then as well.
Thanks for the compliments! I have two more minis on the table. They are really fun!

You painted this miniature with no electricity?? You've got a real talent for precision. I see your lovely brushwork.
Other forum posters, when talking about the niche of miniatures, all seemed to refer to smoother grounds
