I received the book "Overcoming All Obstacles - The Women of the Academy Julian" for Christmas and have been introduced to new artists.

Marie Bashkirtseff being a very prolific painter who attended the Academie Julian died rather young at the age of 25 from tuberculosis. She also kept a daily diary and wrote about her experience at the Academy. Her story is one of overcoming obstacles as a woman and overcoming the so called "roadblocks" to follow her dream of being an artist. Thank you for posting about Marie Bashkirtseff. I have enjoyed her work and was not aware of her short life. Makes me appreciate her work more for the short time it was all accomplished in. Very mature for so young an artist. Deserves to be remembered by us.
