Museums
Susan,
The Chicago Art Institute has a good museum, with two paintings by Bouguereau, though they're both late works done when he was very old and past his prime. They're still very good, though, and there are quite a few other paintings there that are worth going to see, including Jules Breton's "Song of the Lark," and Judith Leyster's "Rommelpot Player," among many others.
Kansas City has a good collection in the Nelson-Atkins Museum. The St. Louis Art Museum is worth visiting as well, but go to Chicago first, because there is more to see there.
