Thanks Marvin!
The economy has been pretty slow these past couple of years and I haven't been very active at all with my sculpting (all my clients had canceled or postponed). sadly, I have been away from the forum as well - but super busy with my regular job.
Well, I have some other exciting news to share that changes that picture! This week, I was approached by and ended up signing on with Ripleys Entertainment in Orlando Florida as one of their contracted portrait sculptors. I am already starting on my first project with them and am pretty excited about it.
As much as I have resisted "work for hire" types of jobs, this seems like a perfect opportunity. They will handle all the copyright issues so I don't have to worry about that and can sculpt famous faces. Also, the guy that contacted me (art director) seems like he will be a real pleasure to work with, which is always important when doing commissioned work.
I can post the images once this piece is released to their wax museums in the spring. Sure hope I can live up to their expectations and that this is the beginning of a long and great relationship with them. I feel especially lucky because I don't think this is a position a person could even apply for if they wanted to. Things are definitely looking up for 2011.
