Rembrandt study

Hi all

Well its been 12 months since i painted anything.. with floods, bushfires relocating to a new State and starting a new job I just haven't had the opportunity to paint. Things have settled down now and I 'm eager to get back into the creative mode. My primary medium for portraits up til now has been pastel but I 'd like to learn more about oil and so I've decided to study the Old Masters and learn how they did what they did. This is a strudy of one of Rembrandts many self portraits, unfortuantely the white balance in my camera is off and the Cad yellow and Trans red Oxide have shown up more than it does in real life. I've put the camera in for a check up. My main aim was to capture light the way Rembrandt did.. This was harder to paint than I imagined..
20 x 16 on canvas board.
seven colour palette about 10 hours work.

Cheers Bruce
