Christy, Carlos and Marina, thank-you very much for your kind comments. It was charcoal and it is about what I really like best about figure drawing - the subtleties of contour and the beauty of form. It has so informed my current painting too. I can see so much more clearly, and am much loser and adventurous that previously in my painting (or so I feel). I would really like to do a drawing, then a painting, then a drawing again, and so on, because it really helps move you onwards and out of ruts.
Sharon Knettell was right about draw, draw, draw before you paint. She has a lot of sensible and intelligent knowledge.
