I'm like you. I like a lot of criticisms of my work because I want to get better. I'll give it a shot.
I like the feeling of this painting and the face of the father very much. My critique would be of the photo itself. I either want to see more of the face of the boy, or have his face more smothered in the dads shoulder so the paintings focus is all about the dad. I'm thinking back to my photography class where the teacher warned about part of a face being truncated. Hope you find this comment helpful.
