Yes, it is wonderful work. I was so ho-hum about going to the lecture. I can't believe I wasn't more excited. I went primarily to get juried into the Coppini Fine Arts Academy - it was their monthly time to do this. Had I not been going for that reason I would have missed this opportunity and I am so thankful I didnt.
He stated that his video is 6 hours long and he speaks quite a bit then does a painting start to finish in his studio.
He also mentioned that he uses quartz lights for his paintings that appear to be the last orangey lights of the day (or for candle lighting I think) and he sometimes puts a blue filter over that as well. I kept grabbing my husband and whispering "what is a quartz light?" He said (the spouse) that it is just a type of bulb and he'd show me today. I am running, not walking to get some. That light is so fantastic in his paintings - so dramatic and real. Lots of backlighting.
He had one portrait there that had a square of almost orange yellow behind the figures head - indicating a light source like a window perhaps. I never would have used such a warm color or such a bright color, but it was so fantastic. That one kept grabbing my attention - it looked like gold and jumped out from across the romm - and so believable. It was a good day.
I know there is a link at the Coppini Acasdemy to buy his video..I'll get the address and add it here.
