I should have made more of a distinction between what you will see of Bechtle's work on the internet and the charcoal drawings of his to which I was referring . I was surprised that I couldn't find a website devoted to him where the charcoals could be seen. He's really accomplished at drawing, often with a different sensibility than the paintings, but I suppose that aspect of his work receives less emphasis than the work that made him famous.

I don't feel you have much in common with with the Bechtle paintings, I was just trying to think of an artist whose graphic work struck me in the way that yours does. I'll keep searching and try to find some examples. I share your opinion of much of "hyper-realism". I do, however, enjoy Bechtle's paintings; their atmosphere is reminiscent of Edward Hopper. In any event, the comparison was meant entirely as a compliment.

Thank you for the comments on the website, It hasn't been updated in a long time. Most of the "artworks" on it have subsequently been destroyed. Good riddance to bad rubbish!
