Thank you, Beth! Admire you, Cynthia!
It was the Rudolph trial. Although I've done over 8,000 sketches, including portrait sketches from pictures of all presidents of the U.S. for 2.5 min. each while I was at the Imperial Palace Museum, but did fewer sketches from memory. As for Beth's wish, I'll post another sketch later.
Please allow me to quote from President of the former Chinese Artists Association Jiang Feng's writing about Dong Chen Sheng, a well-reputed artist, my teacher:
Quote:
In spite of full workdays as art editor, he has produced close to ten thousand works in the last two decades--not to mention innumerable sketches...he does not resort to live models, but paints almost exclusively from memory...a fertile imaginaton of course plays some part in his ability to draw or paint without live models, but more important are his love for and close observation of life, a vast accumulation of mental impressions , good grasp of the laws and techniques of character portrayal, erudition in the art of painting and exceptional industry. These are also the source of the rich flavor of life in his works, and the foundations of his personal style.
