Color print outs on color

Gosh all of you are so great on the printer, computer and Photoshop, I feel very untrained. I do have a question and hope this is the place for it. I wish to put my prints of my work onto a colored background.

Let me explain; first I do a printout of my work on glossy photo paper (HP premium plus photo paper). I have a portfolio that is done only in burgundy and cream. I think artwork looks best on dark background or at least most oils look richer. I have burgundy linen cardstock that I cut and place one of my printouts onto it (a 4x5 or 5x7) with a border of burgundy.

Now, what I would like to do it print the picture directly onto the burgundy stock so I do not have to dry mount the photo onto it. Of course, when I tried to print a photo onto the stock, it showed through. I would love to back the photo someway on my PC so the burgundy would not show through. Do you follow me at all? I do not have the fancy Photoshop or anything like that and do all my own marketing packets etc. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
