I think the paper is the Felt Gray, Mi-Tientes by Canson. It's a very nice warm gray, although you certainly can't tell with my posted image! I use a vine charcoal stick, kneaded eraser, tortillon and white NuPastel.
When I have the time (in my studio), I will spray a little fixative on the charcoal before adding the NuPastel because the white seems to disppear a bit when sprayed. I didn't have the luxury here in open studio (about 3 hours BTW), but certainly could, and then restate the whites, but I don't see any reason to.
