I apologize, Jim.

I was having the same trouble you described until I implemented the solution I suggested. I will revise my first reply to say it 'should' fix the uploading problem.

I assumed we were on only a gently rolling playing field. I can't address how a Mac handles this stuff, but I don't understand why it would be different, since your machine either uploads the image, or it does not. Then, the forum server either presents the image, or it does not. If you're finding that one browser displays it but another one doesn't, I would suggest the problem might be with the installation of that browser.

I run an IBM compatible box with Windoze 98 and IE 5.1. I've never had a problem posting images here since I simplified the filenames. I also run Opera, which functions properly as well. (Opera is a compact browser that is about twice as fast as IE and Netscape, but doesn't handle some complex web pages as reliably. Downloadable free from opera.com.)

If your machine were my machine, I would be suspicious that the software at some level has become corrupted, most likely the browser, maybe both your browsers. All it takes is one file, and even Bill Gates doesn't know which one it is.

Rhetorical question: how long has it been since you reformatted and reinstalled all your programs? I know some computer geeks who do this at least once a year. I did mine less than a month ago, and already it is exhibiting signs of mental instability.

Please note: this is not a diagnosis. It's merely an informed suspicion.
